Soda even diet may be a drain on your immunity. Here’s why:
1. Soda’s are empty calories (no nutrients), but does contain phosphoric acid that depletes calcium and magnesium which helps keep your immunity strong.
2. Many sodas are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup.
3. Plastic soda (and water) bottles contain BPA that may leach into the drink
4. Diet soda actually contributes to weight gain. A study showed a 41% increased risk of being overweight soda they drink per day.

Are you following the controversy over high fructose corn syrup in the news lately. On the one side the alternative health crowd says HFCS is poison and should be avoided at all cost.
On the other hand, the Corn Industry says that high fructose corn syrup isn’t harmful and that it is no different than cane sugar and that it is a natural product that is a healthy part of our diet when used in moderation.
The point missed by “the experts” is that any refined sugar used in moderation, including cane sugar and HFCS, leads to insulin resistance, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and more. So, to say that moderate consumption of HFCS is part of a healthy diet is a stretch, unless we change the definition of moderate.
Of course there is also scientific evidence that HFCS actually is different from cane sugar in its make up and the way our body metabolizes it. This was recently explained in a post by Dr Mark Hyman entitled 5 Reasons High Fructose Corn Syrup Will Kill You.
